Nighty-night!

Recently, I’ve been having nightmares.  Bad nightmares.  The other night I dreamt I killed someone, sniper style.  According to the all-knowing internet, this could simply mean I’m trying to kick a bad habit (which I am, perpetually) but I think this is more likely due to the string of uplifting literature I’ve been reaching for before bed.  Titles include:
Blindness, Jose Saramago
Refresh, Refresh: Stories, Benjamin Percy
Blood Dazzler, Patricia Smith
All the Pretty Horses, Cormac McCarthy
The stuff of sugar plums and fairies, right?  And with daytime hours spent obsessing over the news & worrying over students, it’s no wonder that I wake up weary.
So help me out, what are you reaching for in the dark?

Those are definitely not good for bedtime reading… I can’t read things like that before bed, because it keeps me awake. Lately I’ve been reading baby/motherhood books before bed — puts me to sleep right away. 🙂
